Fees Must Fall : As we think

I  carry a thought that when someone is trying to communicate a concern that is dear to him or her and  feels that you are hearing them but not listening, especially if they are convinced that you made a promise whether directly or indirectly. Out of frustration and eagerness for results or respond, violence becomes the easy way to speed up the response.

I do not promote violence or vandalism of property, as a form or method to force or push anyone to adhere to a demand or demands or lead them to a decision of a particular desire.

Fees must fall movement surely has all the good intentions despite the direction it has taken thus far, the belief that free education is possible and it must happen right now seems impractical and violence and vandalism create another challenge than what is expected (who must pay for that damage when the fees have fallen)

I have heard a lot of people saying free education is possible, some say because we have mineral and other resources that can be tapped into to fund the free education idea. But we should not forget that this is not a once-off event or activity, but a long term plan with its own implications and risks that we cannot ignore.

  • Our education system for one is it designed to account and sustains such a move.
  • The quality of education that we currently have is it the one that can sustain the free education – can it guarantee return of investments
  • Accountability in both the student and institution, will the move be clear and practical   ( Transparency)
  • Issue of drop-out and wrong career choice
  • The student's role in ensuring that they play their part in advocating for the above-mentioned concerns.

    1. My question is, what's so hard with treasury engaging the students into the feasibility of this movement? They are touching here and letting go there, stalling the process, involving a president that, in my opinion, couldn't be bothered, and infuriating the students in the process, while inevitably causing these violent protests. Students don't want to disrupt their own future. I don't think they even mean to vandalize property. Government should just come forth with a pleasing plan. It's not like the people on the ground don't know they r the ones to eventually pay for this "free education" anyways, question is how, and how soon can the poor kids go back to class. This is messing up with the economy
